So, it’s no secret that I am the summery, nature photography girl. My portfolio is filled with people set in gorgeous, green locations all around the Chicago suburbs. I come alive in the sunshine and I get “SAD” (seasonal affective disorder) in the winter. However, I’ve been inspired lately to step out and embrace the winter more – and that means with my clients, too. That’s why I was SO excited to style this snowy couples photoshoot this December.
Lexi and Danny met each other in their professional model careers, and have been inseparable ever since. In the last few years, they’ve gotten married and now have to beautiful children. I wanted these photos to highlight their love, playfulness, and to truly feel whimsical!
Ps. This same day, we got some family photos all together with their boys. You can see those here as well as my top 4 tips for planning a successful winter family session!
Let’s get to the magic.

Another fun fact about me: one of my favorite parts of sessions with my clients (outside of the actual shooting and editing process too) is the STYLING! Give me all the Pinterest boards, vision planning, chatting about outfits and colors and how it will fit together in the actual setting. Which brings me the location, another hugely important part of pulling together a custom session for my clients.
For this snowy couples photoshoot in particular, I had a vision for neutral clothing, with an elevated but cozy style. For the location, I envisioned them in a forest-type setting and then my mom reminded me about the adorable little log cabin in Lombard that I grew up visiting all my life. We use to run around the fields and forest here, and held many events at the cabin with our church and home school co-op. It was the PERFECT backdrop that pulled together the wintery vibes I was dreaming of!
Lexi and Danny are so much fun, and with their history in modeling, I already knew it was going to be a gorgeous, easy session. Enjoy the photos and if you want to work with me to tell YOUR love story, I’d be honored! Let’s start the convo here.
