I crouched in the tall grass, swatting bugs, dodging mud puddles, and pulling my gray hood tighter around my face to conceal any skin. Any moment now, Jeremiah would be pulling out the fortune cookie that was secretly holding Shannon’s incredible engagement ring. Any moment now, she’d be opening the cookie and reading the question that would change her life.
When Jeremiah sent me a message wondering if I would be willing to photograph him proposing to Shannon, I couldn’t have been more thrilled. YES, and YESSS a million times more. There’s nothing I love more than seizing those moments on film for people to remember forever. Everything went beautifully. The rain held off, and despite the overcast sky, it was still a precious (and hilarious) moment. Shannon opened the “fortune,” read that unforgettable question, “Will you marry me, Shannon?” and promptly looked at Jeremiah and exclaimed, “that’s NOT funny.” Apparently she thought he was playing a mean trick on her. I’m not sure why anyone would be so cruel, hehe. Thankfully it didn’t take long to realize it was real, especially as he took her hand and got on his knee and pulled out a giant, sparkling diamond… and then the tears flowed. I’m grateful to have witnessed their moment, and am so excited for their future. In the past year, a great friendship has developed between me and my husband and them, and we are thrilled to support and bless their marriage.
I love how much she stared at and adored the ring!!
