Winter Senior Photos: A Pinterest-Worthy Photoshoot in the Snow with Brittney

There’s something absolutely magical about winter senior photos. The crisp air, the fresh snowfall, and the bright natural light creates the perfect setting for the dreamiest photoshoot in the snow. I’ve been inspired by snowy senior photos for awhile now, waiting for the perfect day to finally make it happen. As soon as the weather report called for fresh snow, we got to planning!

Brittney is a close friend who has modeled for me before. She’s the perfect mix of sweet and spunky energy, and being an elementary school teacher its no wonder kids and parents alike just adore her. Although she graduated high school a few years ago, I asked her to be my muse for an inspiration-filled winter senior photoshoot. I had seen her wearing this flowy pink skirt and just knew it would be perfect against the snow.

As an Aurora senior photographer, I love helping my senior girls put together outfits that make them shine. Likewise, finding beautiful locations is just as important for putting together the whole picture. For Brittney’s session, we chose Waubonsie Lake Park in Aurora, Illinois, a favorite park near me that looks like a winter wonderland under the fresh snow. The evergreen trees and rocks against the hilly landscape was perfection.

What to Wear to Your Winter Senior Photoshoot

When planning winter senior photos, styling is key! Not just to look good, but to FEEL your absolute best self. We want YOUR personality and style to shine, while also looking amazing in camera. Colors, fabrics, and layers all play a part with this! But, don’t feel overwhelmed. This is why we meet before your session to plan out exactly which colors and styles will be best for you. I also have a few curated lists of Amazon finds, and a running Pinterest board for outfit inspiration depending on seasons.

Brittney wore a gorgeous flowy pink skirt paired with a cozy white sweater and chic white boots. The soft pastel tones popped against the snowy background, for a light and airy look. To add variety and warmth to the session, we incorporated a denim jacket, fuzzy white earmuffs, and even a beautiful bouquet of flowers. (Fun fact- an amazing friend of mine surprised me with flowers on Valentine’s day-the most beautiful bouquet from Trader Joe’s. Little did she know they’d be used a few days later as an (un)paid actor!) 😉 These little details made all the difference, adding texture and personality to her images.
