It’s been a really special summer working with amazing families this year. I’ve been doing this for a long time, but I still get nervous and excited and sooo honored every time someone entrusts me with their most valuable memories. Now it’s time to chat about this incredible family below.

This summer, Kelly reached out looking for a photographer who could help her achieve her vision. Ten years earlier, she’d married her sweetheart on the grounds of the Prairie Landing Golf Club. Now with five-year old twins heading into kindergarten, she had the idea to head back to the special place and recreate some of their wedding photos. With the whole family this time. I LOVED this idea, so naturally I confidently told her that this is something we could absolutely achieve together.

We put together outfits and reviewed their wedding photos and which ones they specifically wanted to recreate.

The most important photo was taken of them on a hilltop from a low perspective, giving the illusion of a vast and simplistic backdrop against the sky. To recreate this photo again with the children was SO special to them! And turned out to be our favorite from the day. So much so, that we turned it into framed artwork to put above their mantle! Back in 2022, I was relaunching my business in my new area around the west suburbs of Chicago, and one thing I knew is that I needed to change things up. I didn’t feel like I was serving my clients as well as I could. There wasn’t much interaction with us before our sessions, I was sending out overwhelming galleries with too many photos, and no one was printing their photos because it was too much work. So, I decided to level things up and become the boutique photographer I believe my clients (who are investing in the luxury of preserved memories) deserve.
